My Account Standings – Halifax Phishing Email

There is an email circulating today requesting that account holders login to their online account to update their personal information.

The email purports to come from the bank, however, the link at the bottom of the email takes you to: http://www.lexchess.com/administrator/modules/index.html

THIS IS A PHISHING EMAIL DESIGNED TO GATHER YOUR DETAILS SO THAT YOUR ACCOUNT CAN BE ACCESSED – DO NOT CLICK THE LINK

For your information, the contents of the aforementioned email now follow:

It has come to our attention that your account needs to be updated due to the recent changes we have made to our Online Banking system. This update will allow us to activate new security features for your account on our new system. This will authomatically prevent unauthorized access to your account. We havemade these changes to serve you better.

With our 24 hour online financial center, you can manage your Halifax accounts, see images of the front and back of cleared checks and deposit tickets, transfer funds between eligible Halifax Bank accounts, order checks and much more. Halifax Online Banking is quick, easy and convenient allowing you to bank whenever and wherever you want.
